iBMS-JO aims at improving the capacity of all Medical Schools in Jordan in developing new programs in Basic Medical Sciences (BMS), in parallel to the currently available programs of Medicine and Surgery, and establishing local but interconnected Telemedicine Laboratories (TL).

Hence, iBMS-JO aims to:

  • Develop/reform and accredit curriculum programs in iBSc in BMS at JO HEIs by establishing one-year long iBSc programs in BMS that highlight the necessity for higher-degree holders in the various disciplines of BMS and meet the current severe shortage of scientists and academicians in this field.

  • Develop research capacity among JO medical students

  • Establish multiple interdisciplinary, field-of-interest oriented, applied research units within the academic structure at all JO HEIs, aiming at creating a favourable environment for integrated basic and translational medical research, a process of which shall result in good-quality scientific publications that will significantly improve the competency of Medical School graduates

  • Promote the concept of student and academic staff exchange between JO and EU countries. for the major goals of sharing of experiences, optimization of implementation, and revitalization of the continuous medical education process, which will promote the dialogue between EU and JO HEIs in order to facilitate the reciprocal recognition of competences and credits, informing on EU University system: Bologna Process, Quality Evaluation and Internationalization
